I like to end my yoga classes by chanting Om, generally three times, participating in the universal vibration. It's interesting to see who in the class participates in the chant. At the very first class I taught in the community it was only me. I have to say I was a bit surprised but I powered through and hoped when I opened my eyes everyone would still be there, and, sure enough they were. I stopped doing chanting after that, not sure if it was going to be accepted.
Well, I've brought it back to my classes and there's more participation now than there was in the first class, but even if there wasn't, that's ok, I'd still do it because it feels right. The class that chants the loudest is the group at Chapter 21 (not that it's a competition or anything!) but I have to say, they have the loudest Om's. When I left class today I could feel a vibration in my body. It's quite amazing.
If you want to give it a try, sit quietly for a moment, then inhale. On your exhale chant Ooooo hhhh mmmm as long as your breath. Inhale and repeat. If you'd like to read more about "Om", check out this website: http://www.meditationiseasy.com/mCorner/techniques/Om.htm
