I just came home from a fantastic yoga class. The focus of the class was on breathing and awareness of where the breath goes in your body. Each posture was aligned with our breathing, sinking deeper in to the posture with each exhale. It was beautiful. After class I had a great conversation with my yoga teacher about life and yoga philosophy and how it can be hard to actually apply those philosophical principles when life gets challenging but how wonderful it is to be aware of the challenge, in the moment. I left class feeling all warm and fuzzy, totally in my head. I went in to the store next door, all happy and bouncy. I walked over to the cooler, pulled out a drink and as I went striding toward the door I waved and said hello to the man behind the cash register who I've seen many times. As I was pulling open the door I realized I hadn't paid for my drink. The man at the counter and I had a good laugh as I went back to pay. He hadn't realized either.
So much for putting all those principles to use and being present. Ah, life!
Happy, sunny Saturday.
